Check out the video from the 2024 Tour of the Wichitas!
Tour of the Wichitas offers a beautiful cycling ride through the Wichita Wildlife Refuge and mountains and the historic Fort Sill Army Post — all near Lawton, Oklahoma. The bike ride takes you through some of the most enchanting and historic scenery in Southwest Oklahoma.
The routes begin near the Fort Sill Museum and pass by some of Southwest Oklahoma’s most scenic and important historical properties. The longer rides also pass the Visitor Center in the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. You are welcome to take a break here and learn about the makeup of the refuge along with what types of animals it supports.
From the Visitor Center you will ride back by Mt. Scott into the historic cobblestone town of Medicine Park, and then back into Fort Sill at the LETRA Gate.
Take your time, look around and enjoy the Tour of the Wichita’s, and as you ride by Medicine Bluffs, be sure to yell “Geronimo!” in homage to the great Apache leader who under desperate pursuit by the US Calvary, leaped from the cliff and was carried down safely by a Spirit Eagle.
The date is approaching fast and we’re making preparations. Don’t miss out!
